“Into the Woods” Musical

St. Michael’s School is a small school with a big emphasis on educating the whole child – balancing a rigorous curriculum with a daily infusion of the arts.

In January, students from grades 4-8 performed in a junior version of the Broadway show “Into the Woods” – a fusion of prominent fairytale characters into one storyline: Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack & the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood…and of course, a wicked witch. But who would have thought that a chicken would steal the show?!

Preparations had been underway for months, resulting in an impressive realistic set and costumes made by parent volunteers. Professional lighting and sound fused all of the elements together for an unforgettable experience. The program is overseen by music director Dr. Tony Antista – his 13th musical production at St. Michael’s. Over the years, it has become a family affair with his daughter Rachel (U of A freshman) directing the show and his wife, Tracy, in charge of set design.

Congratulations to the student performers, directors and parent volunteers for an incredible weekend of performances!
